It's been almost a month since I last blogged but real life hasn't been easy for myself and for a lot of people here in Malaysia. Nonetheless in my mission to promote positivity through myself, I now have got the time to blog again. Going through all my posts, I have something else that I wish to highlight that coloured my past not only with my time after vigorous studying and attending classes but also with my fashion and style options.
Gossip Girl, the first original television series that was broadcast on CW Network, was a hit amongst young adults back in early 2000s. Of course, as an avid bookworm, I have had my hands on the novels, the entire series of them of course but I was just as excited to watch the series especially after learning that the guy who played Nate Archibald is hella hot. But throughout the series, it wasn't Nate that caught my attention, it was the girls - their fire rivalry, snappy comebacks and tongue-lashing and of course their fashion, it was what won me over.
Blair Waldorf played by Leighton Meester lead the pack of stylish young girls. Of course if we judge their school uniforms, it is very unlikely that any school in any country would allowed vicious altercation to the school uniform. Added accessories maybe but not altering the entire uniform altogether but I do grow up attending school in Malaysia so how much do I really know. Anyways, her style was the one that impresses me the most. Throughout the show up until the final season, Blair whipped a style that was regal and sophisticated despite it being loud and colourful. But it is all within her character that desires to be the top at everything and everywhere she goes. She's not my favourite character, nor was it Serena van der Woodsen, but her style is my favourite. Not to say the rest of the casts or characters had poor taste or style. Each individual had their own style and it was just as appealing as Blair's but her style just stood out the most for me.

Other than the style, I have to admit, I was not a fan of the series storyline as I could not find myself be related to their stories all individually and as a whole. Then again, I am form Malaysia and also from a middle income family. That's a possibility that this kind of lifestyle was never exposed to me. Actually, that is a fact. I can't help but to share how this show made me truly hungry while watching. I am always ready with my own meal or snack while watching the series and back then, I had to wait for a week until the next episode to air so when it was time to watch the show, I had to have everything ready to ensure my peace while watching. My most favourite was during the episode where the show introduced the Sunday brunch which presented a variety of scrumptious delights which are things that I just love to eat. There was no way this show was never going to be a show I wouldn't watch, even thought he food were presented in a more classy way than I could afford.

Another thing that got me obsessed with the show is, and this is a weird one, is the variety of headbands the girls wear throughout. I wear hijab so it is probably not appropriate to actually be obsessed over a headband but I just can't myself. They were all so stylish and pretty and perhaps when I was that young, of course the headbands was a trend I wished I could follow. I don't know how best if I were to style a headband over my hijab at my age now where career and possibly getting closer to my Creator are the highest priorities but a girl could dream.

Running down my own personal memory, it appears that my life has been colourful and exciting even though I am a person who happens to be a homebody - someone who enjoys her alone time at home or at her own comfort space. But here, I believe, excitement is what an individual thinks and makes of it and I truly enjoy the most part of my past. I guess in a small way, I have to thank Gossip Girl for that because on top of looking forward to watching the episodes every week, I actually try to take whatever that I find exciting in the show to colour my life like eating sushi for lunch on campus. I'm not rich, but back then I enjoy being a little bit bougie once in a while.
