My Inspiration : The Little Market

I don't know how long but it is almost certain that I will be gabbing about my throwback obsession for Lauren Conrad and co for the entire month of April and May. The reason is because, with me restarting my journey to self-love and spreading positivity, I had to go back to the days when I actually had a dream and a vision and of course a love not only for myself but for the passion that was more than ordinary. One of the things that I always wanted to do was to start my own business but not just any normal business where I can earn dividend from profits but also a business that gives back to the operation and the community. Growing up, I was always taught that business is a cycle, it doesn't belong to one and it doesn't serve only to one. I was highly in awe when Lauren Conrad announced her collaboration with her friend, Hannah Skarvla, in starting a business of fair trade at the same time celebrating women's craftmanship and creativity.

The Little Market, is a fair trade business that sells mostly goods that are created and designed by women. Lauren and Hannah will travel outside of the borders of America to search for goods that are worth to be sold not only to serve as home goods for the consumers but also to allow women from smaller and less fortunate areas to earn extra income to help raise their respective families. Moreover, the brand does not collect much profit as their main goal is entirely to bring forth a platform for women from these underdeveloped countries as well as celebrating their creative craftsmanship. It is literally killing two birds with one stone concept business.

Again, with the idea that I had before of starting a business that gives back, The Little Market's business concept truly vibes perfectly with me. That is why I constantly visiting the website to continue to educate myself on the mechanics that could assists me in the future. This is also the reason why I look up highly on Lauren Conrad. It is true, and I will not deny and I know for a fact that Lauren herself won't deny it, but Laguna Beach and The Hills did provided her with the platform to allow herself to create a brand for herself. However, it is what she does with that platform that makes the difference. Unlike others from the show, Lauren churns businesses that benefits her as well as highlights some creativity that not many would think of.

With The Little Market as an inspiration, I really do look forward to the day when I start something similar for myself and I wish to focus at first with the creativity that can be found within the borders of Malaysia. My home country is rich with beautiful cultures and hidden creativity but we are also a developing country where the economy is constantly unstable. At the same time, I am also struggling to make ends meet for myself and my household which sort of contributed to the hiccup of me moving forward. But I have believe in myself that one day it will happen and I a grateful that I have something to help guide me to get this business up.
